Welcome to the future of financial sovereignty. Use Trezor.io/start to initialize your hardware wallet and protect your Bitcoin, Ethereum, and thousands of other assets from online threats.
Download Trezor SuiteIn the world of cryptocurrency, the phrase "Not your keys, not your coins" is the ultimate law. When you keep your assets on an exchange, you don't actually own them—the exchange does. By visiting Trezor.io/start, you are taking the first step toward self-custody. A Trezor hardware wallet acts as a physical key to your digital wealth, ensuring that your private keys never leave the offline environment of the device.
Whether you are setting up a Trezor Model T, the budget-friendly Trezor Safe 3, or the high-end Trezor Safe 5, the initialization process is streamlined through the Trezor Suite application. This software is your command center for managing assets, staking, and performing secure transactions.
Before heading to Trezor.io/start, ensure your device box is sealed with the original holographic tamper-evident stickers. If the seal appears broken, do not use the device. Your package should include the Trezor device, a USB-C cable, and recovery seed cards.
Connect your device to your computer using the provided USB cable. Open your browser and navigate to Trezor.io/start. From here, you will be prompted to download the Trezor Suite desktop application. We highly recommend the desktop version over the web app for enhanced security and stability.
New Trezor devices ship without firmware to ensure you are installing the latest, most secure version directly from the official source. Follow the prompts in Trezor Suite to "Install Firmware." This process takes less than two minutes and prepares your device for wallet creation.
Once the firmware is ready, select "Create New Wallet." You will be asked to choose between a standard seed backup (12 or 24 words) or a multi-share backup (Shamir Backup). For most users, the standard 12-word seed phrase provided during the Trezor.io/start process is the gold standard of security.
This is the most critical part of the Trezor.io/start setup. Your device will display a series of words. Write these down on the provided physical cards. Never take a photo, save them in a text file, or upload them to the cloud. If you lose this seed, you lose your funds forever.
Create a unique PIN code (up to 50 digits, though 6-8 is recommended). This PIN protects your physical device from unauthorized access. Every time you connect your device to use Trezor Suite, you will need to enter this code on the device screen or a randomized keypad for security.
